I heard that a while back people in the US got $300 to help jump start the economy. I was not able to collect since I did not live in the US in 2008.
However, I will be getting $120 from the Japanese government that's to a similar government program. This was quite exciting to know, so I went out and bought some new suits. I guess my consumer confidence is fine, just a little frugle.
This $120 will take time to get delivered to me. It was promised back in the start of 2009 and my prefecture is the last to get its paperwork together. Although I was able to get tax bill from Tsurumi-ku, my "free money" forms never arrived. Once I get that straightened out, it will take maybe until August before I see the money, or as late as November.
