Sometimes it is hard to see the future beyond today. Sometimes it feels like today is more important than tomorrow. Sometimes tomorrow feels like it will never come.
Those are only sometimes.
Just like finding a balance between work and personal time, and public and private life, finding a balance between enjoying the present while preparing for the future is important. Our most valuable treasures are our memories, next to having a home and being healthy.
Like someone said to me, "If you have a modern PC and the internet, you are part of the top 1% of the world's wealthiest people."
So... where to next on the train to discovery?

Rethink your "Our most valuable treasures..." statement. If I was homeless, sick or starving, my memories (not the present) would be most valuable treasures. I think that's what you intended to imply.
