Unrelated To My Birthday

On the 24th I celebrated my birthday with some friends at my place after work. While the pizza had a definite Japanese flavor to it, the cake was very good. However, this post is unrelated to that day.

Today was my day to relax and pamper myself. Well, that was exactly what I was telling myself since I have a terrible time trying to spend money on luxuries. My luxury today was a hot spring water bath, restaurant food, and shopping with Sanami.

The hot spring bath we went to is a 9-story complex filled with not only baths, but massage, relaxation rooms, and a restaurant. When you first enter, you are given a card that you soon give to an employee to receive a robe. This robe is the uniform of those who are relaxing, and it is worn everywhere except for the baths.

The baths themselves are complex, ranging from outdoor hot tubes to indoor cool water baths. The baths are for relaxing, but as I was the only non-Japanese person who was there, I was a little on edge from all the eyes looking at me. Once I ignored everyone, it was a relaxing experience.

The photos is from our shopping trip. I saw this woman's handbag while buying some personal birthday gifts. I don't know if it had just incorrect English, or if it was meant to be degrading towards women. Either way, I laughed when I saw it.
